I have successfully obtained my Master Degree in Chinese Studies at National ChengChi University in Taiwan. Currently, I am the final year research student of a Doctoral program in the field of Traditional Chinese Literature and Linguistic and have achieved the end of thesis writing stage.

At the same time, I am a Mandarin Teacher at an independent college. My main responsibilities including preparing and delivering Chinese lessons focusing on listening, reading, speaking and writing to a wide range of students, providing guidance to students sitting for A-level and IGCSE exams, developing the methods (e.g. group presentations and individual assignment) to examine the students’ performance, consulting students and responding to their enquiries.

I look forward to providing Mandarin (including Cantonese) language tutor services for students that are staying in Nottinghamshire. I will also try my best to fit the needs for those from the nearby area such as Mansfield, Derby, Leicester and etc. with some reasonable additional fee.

Besides that, I would be happy to deliver talks, after-school activities, speeches or lectures in the areas of Chinese culture and languages (Mandarin or Cantonese) at the courses and seminars that are organized by relevant groups. Please feel free to contact me for further discussion.

I look forward to seeing you in nearly future for my Mandarin lesson!

Tutoring Experience

My teaching experience has been mainly at the International Secondary School and College level, while my academic background has been primarily in Chinese Literature, with an emphasis on Chinese Classical Literature and Linguistic.

I have been teaching Mandarin (including Cantonese and Mathematics) for more than 10 years. During my study in Taiwan, I have already started working as a personal tutor for 3 years focusing on teaching the subjects of Mathematics and Mandarin. After I had completed my study in Taiwan, I joined a local University in Malaysia and worked as a Mandarin lecturer for 2 years. I was pleased that all the students enjoyed my lessons and some of the students obtained a high score for the Mandarin course.

Subsequently, I continue to accumulate my teaching and leadership experience by working as a Mandarin teacher at the Canadian International School in Malaysia for 3 years. On the same time, I was the part-time Mandarin lecturer at the University of Kuala Lumpur in Malaysia. After that, I worked as a language tutor in Nottingham city focusing on teaching the Mandarin language and Cantonese. My teaching in Mandarin and Cantonese covers the four main areas including the speaking, writing, communication and listening.

Currently, I am working as a Mandarin Teacher at an independent college.

Tutoring Approach

Through my previous experience, I have developed confidence in teaching and generated my own teaching methods to make teaching a fun experience to me and students. My teaching experience in different countries has equipped me with the ability to interact and communicate effectively with people and students from diverse backgrounds with excellent feedback.

As a Mandarin educator, I have developed efficient teaching and organization skills in preparing and delivering lessons; and my teaching methods can be tailored to suit different students’ progress and abilities. To engage students in the lectures, I like to teach a new concept or theory by using simple drawing and tell the story of how it happens with the assistance of the drawing.

Furthermore, I also adopt mind-mapping in each lesson to summarise the main points and present the connection with each other or the relationship between different ideas. Encouraging students to make their own mind-mapping is very useful to foster their understanding of significant points in each chapter.

At last but not least, my strong enthusiasm for teaching and education will always motivate me to upgrade myself and be a role model for students.
