Originally a student at the Queen Elizabeth Grammar School in Penrith, I have just finished my undergraduate degree in Mathematics at the University of Cambridge (graduated with a 1st). I am a keen and enthusiastic mathematician and love to share my passion for the subject with others, and helping others to enjoy it as I do. I consider myself a friendly and polite individual and love that I can use my ability to help others.
Having started tutoring a couple of years ago, I have tutored across all sciences and mathematics up to A-Level and across a wide range of abilities. Having taught from one off booster classes to whizz through the syllabus to long term tutoring, teaching each element of a course in detail, I can be flexible to any needs. Having gone through the Cambridge applications process, I know a great deal about entrance exams, and university applications. During this process, I spend a lot of time on academic forums, writing unofficial mark schemes, and understanding the ins and outs of every examination, ensuring that marks don't slip away when the content is known. Through this I can provide excellent guidance on getting the very most out of school, and performing to ones best ability in examinations.
I feel that understanding is the key to academic success. If basic concepts are not fully understood then the work will never become intuitive. As well as merely teaching maths, I like to provide students with understanding of how to learn maths and helping them understand why mathematical techniques develop as they do which provides the insight to tackle any question that may face them in their school life ahead. Having recently been through the education system, I understand what students do and don't struggle with and understand how they think which makes the learning process far more beneficial and worthwhile.
