Born on 29/07/1961 in Belgrade, Serbia, married and have two children (age 10 and 13).
My degrees are all in Chemical Engineering: BSc (University of Belgrade, Serbia), MSc (University of Belgrade, Serbia), PhD (New University of Lisbon, Portugal).
Have dual citizenship - Serbian and Portuguese.
1. 1984-2000: I was delivering private tutoring to primary and secondary school pupils, covering Chemistry, Mathematics and Physics.
2. In the period 1988-2000 I was a lecturer at the Faculty of Technology and Metallurgy, University of Belgrade (Serbia, Yugoslavia at the time) where he covered several subjects in the area of Thermodynamics:
1) Thermodynamics and Heat (2nd year of the studies),
2) Chemical Engineering Thermodynamics (3rd year of the studies),
3) Biochemical Engineering Thermodynamics (3rd year of the studies),
4) Energy in Process Industry (4th or, later, 5th year of the studies).
Within these twelve years I was in charge of large groups of students (Year 2) but as well of smaller ones (tutoring at Year 4 and Year 5). M activities included individual tutoring as well.
My performance was validated each year by the anonymous polls of the department in which the students (groups of typically 30-100, depending on the course) always granted excellent notes (never below 4.5 of 5) and remarks to his teaching abilities and personal attitude.
In 2011, Z.P. was invited to give lectures in the subject Advanced Thermodynamics within the comprised PhD course, at the Faculty of Technology and Metallurgy, University of Belgrade.
In 2012, Z.P. was teaching laboratory classes in Transport Phenomena (Momentum and Heat Transport) at Instituto Superior Técnico, University of Lisbon. This included tutoring of smaller groups of students.
1995-2000: at the Faculty of Technology and Metallurgy, University of Belgrade, I supervised four master students.
At the Faculty of Technology and Metallurgy, University of Belgrade I am currently co-supervising three PhD students – this supervision resulted, so far, in nine (9) published papers.
In 2009, at the Faculty of Science and Technology (FCT), New University of Lisbon he was co-supervising one master student – the result of this collaboration is one (1) paper published.
Until October 2013, as a Head of a national Portuguese project, I was a supervisor of two BSc fellows. This collaboration provided ten (10) papers published.
My tutoring is interactive - student participates with questions, doubts and discussions. It is a combination of teaching, guiding and supporting a student. Every struggling in any discipline has a reason - we find it together and get over it.
Make a safe environment for a student to ask and discuss: there are no questions that do not deserve to be answered.
Theoretical introductions are to be followed by calculation exercises or practical examples as frequent as possible.
And, as the ancient Latins say: "Repetitio est mater studiorum" - "Repetition is the mother of learning".
