My name is Zoë and I live in Kingston Upon Thames. I'm a qualified teacher with QTS with more than three years teaching experience. I graduated from the Teach First Development Programme in 2014 after completing my teacher training with the Institute of Education in Modern Foreign Languages. Before that, I graduated from the University of Southampton in 2013 where I studied History and Spanish. I was educated at Tiffin Girls' School to sixth form. I love to travel and experience new cultures. I lived in Mexico on my year abroad and worked in an International School as an English Language Assistant.
School: The Hurlingham Academy, Parsons Green, April - current
I teach Spanish to Years 7 - 10.
School: Crest Academy, Neasden 2013-2016. Job Title: History and Spanish teacher, Head of Year 11 (Easter 2016-Summer 2016). I have experience teaching Spanish to Years 7-11 and History to Years 7-10.
I have taught a range of ability and needs of students, from EAL (English as an additional language) learners, SEN (Special Educational Needs) learners to AG&T (Able, Gifted and Talented) students.
In both years of graduating GCSE Spanish students, students in my class obtained over 70% A*-C in a school where the average of students obtaining 5 A*-C including English and Maths was 40%. The controlled assessment results of the current Year 10 beginner Spanish students in my classes were all graded at Bs and above.
I have led many intervention sessions for students falling behind in both Spanish and History, helping them to overcome grammar misconceptions in Spanish or assisting them with their writing. In History, I have assisted students with their essay skills and revising particular topics.
I led a language leaders course for Year 10 students who subsequently taught hour long language lessons to primary school students.
I am an adaptable teacher who is able to appropriately challenge the learner dependent on their ability and specific needs. I can tailor sessions to the learner and what they really need. I work very well with all ages of students. I like to get to know my students to understand what they will find engaging and motivating. I am also a teacher who is very committed to ensuring students understand that failure is an important part of learning and that giving it a go is always better than giving up. I am a very motivated teacher who will ensure that the student always tries their very best!
