I have a post graduate diploma and am a mother of three so understand the needs of parents similar to me.
I am very passionate about what I do which is shown in the way I teach.
Over the years I have taught GCSE and 11+ students that have had learning difficulties who have then gone on to pass their GCSE's and 11+ entrance exams with flying colours and to attain this a tutor needs to have patience and to give confidence to that student.
Currently, I volunteer at a local Primary School where I help children that are struggling with their Maths and English in Year 6.
I have been tutoring children for 11 + entrance exams and GCSE Science since 2010.
Since then I have had great success in my students gaining places at there preferred schools such as Wilsons,Nonsuch ,Wellington and Tiffins to name but a few.
Last year I had an overall pass rate of more than 80 % in the Grammar school entrance exams and even two of my students gained full scholarships at Whitgift and Sutton High School.
I have a 100% pass rate in GCSE Science where I use the strategy of Teach,Revise,Test and Practice.
In 2016 the grades ranged from A* to B and since I have been teaching, my students have never attained less than a B which I pride myself on.
I have taught the legacy curriculum for the AQA , Edexcel, OCR ,OCR 21st Century and IGCSE for Edexcel and Cambridge boards and am now teaching the new GCSE's implemented in September 2016 for the 9-1 grades in the above boards.
I am also accredited by The Tutors Association.
I use very traditional methods of teaching from books rather than sitting children on the computer.
Firstly I go through the curriculum in theory and then focus on practice papers towards the exams as technique is key
My technique involves Teach,Revision,Test and Practice!!!
For the School entrance exams I focus on the key skills needed to pass the test such as in English I focus on comprehension skills and how to extract the information to answer the question , writing skills which involves using more mature vocabulary and sentence construction and how to use a variety of punctuation, spellings and improving vocabulary.
For Maths I focus on completing all topics up until Year 7 and then focus on problem solving skills.
For the GCSE I ensure I complete the curriculum by the end of January in Year 11 so that there are three clear months just to do practice papers as this is key as I have found that the correct technique is not taught in order to pass the exams.
