Personal Description:

I am currently in my fourth year at Imperial College London studying medicine.
I believe my experiences from the past 6 years have developed me well to tutoring.
Having taken on huge leadership roles at Imperial and teaching opportunities externally on request, I have developed my skills of communication and teaching.
I have constantly been tutoring the secondary school curriculum, thus is still fresh in my memory along with the memories that I had during exam preparation and school life, I know what the students will be going through during their studies.
Also having gone through the UCAS process I know extremely well what to do and can assist in medical and engineering applications.
Furthermore, I believe that my friendly, approachable personality along with my patience is well suited to teaching and guiding the students in the right direction.

Tutoring Experience:

My experiences mostly lie in preparing for medical school. I have presented at the KMDA conference about the UKCAT and medical school entry. Furthermore have mentored several students for medical school applications. During the summer of 2015, 2016 and 2017 I taught a group of 3-14 students A level biology and also provided lessons on BMAT and UKCAT.
I have 3 years of experience in carrying out medical interviews and checking personal statements for such individuals.
During my time at secondary school I was a prefect, teaching assistant and also Sunday school teacher. Having to be able to control a big group of students ranging from 7 years old to 17 years old and also teach them at the same time I have picked up several methods of teaching and have become aware of the benefits of an one to one lesson.

From my experiences, I have come to realise everyone has their own way of learning, and it is the teachers' role to match that, and help them along the road. Providing the means and opportunities to learn rather than spoon feeding an individual. It is as Benjamin Franklin once said "Tell me and I forget, teach me and I remember. Involve me and I learn".

Tutoring Approach:

A mentor of mine exposed me to philosophy from a young age. One quote I loved was:

"It does not matter how slowly you go as long as you do not stop" - Confucius

I have ever since followed this philosophy and suggested it to many students and mentees and my teaching style reflects this. As I know everybody has their own pace at which they learn, I encourage perseverance because the roots of education can be bitter, however, the fruits are sweet. I still remember when I had finished my first topic within biology that the knowledge didn't scare me but I was happy I had put in the effort to learn it and be able to apply it.
I believe getting to terms with concepts is the first step in learning, providing a strong foundation for future learning and the best way to achieving a higher grade. Then comes practise questions and exam techniques.
I think that by having an understanding of a topic first will bring out the confidence of the student to tackle any problem and also learn from the questions they answer, and with confidence comes a relaxed state in which the student can take their exam stress free.
By employing creative, interactive and fun lessons I believe I can form this solid foundation on which your child stands to absorb knowledge and become confident in a subject. However, I do expect the student to put in effort of their own outside of teaching hours by doing homework, asking questions and communicating areas of difficulty.

For prospective medical students I offer interview practise (MMI and also traditional) as I have experience in running them and also doing them. Also UKCAT and BMAT tips and practise along with PS checking and help with the UCAS application.
