Information About William - West Molesey tutor
This is how a referee rated William:
I teach Flute and Recorder and also academic music to all ages and all levels. My musical activities encompass performing, teaching and studying:
Performing - various early music orchestras and chamber groups, working with songwriters in clubs and festivals;
Teaching - I teach both in schools and in adult education, and also lead Tudor education workshops;
Study - I am a PhD student at Kingston university, studying English music of the 18th. century.
1994 - 2006: local music services
2000 - 2003: Brunel University
2003 - Morley College of Adult Education
My approach is to tackle both the basic elements of notation and the physical aspects of playing [posture, sound production, hand position etc.]. Improvisation and music theory usually play some part in my lessons, and I try to get each student to understand the expressive function of a piece of music rather than merely repeating it. I am happy to teach students with no previous knowledge or a great deal of experience, and expect some work between lessons.
