Hi, thanks for taking the time to check out my profile, my name is William and I am a chemistry teacher!
Due to the broad nature of my undergraduate degree I am well versed in cell and general biology, DNA technologies, chemistry and I excel at biochemistry, and given the nature of some of my work I also have relevant experience in physics and can tutor this to a GCSE standard.
During my formal school education I studied maths, biology, chemistry and physics to A2-level and achieved A grades in all subjects.I have a recent enhanced criminal record check (Access NI) and also can provide references from previous clients should you wish.
Any questions you may have feel free to ask =)
I am available for any Summer tuition you may need if you want to get an early start on GCSEs or A-levels!
I have been tutoring since 2012, however, during the course of my academic studies I have carried out teaching during laboratory classes for Cell Biology, Biochemistry and Molecular Biology and Genetics undergraduate classes. I was a senior demonstrator, responsible for as many as one-hundred plus students, but one-on-one interaction with smaller groups enabled me to clearly get across key-points and to help students.
Given the amount of time I have spent teaching undergraduates I am also up-to-date with the current developments during school education and can provide my own knowledge to complement that which is currently taught and also provide career and further study advice. I am also enrolled to begin a course in initial teacher training at university (starting September 2013).
I have completed a PGCE in secondary science and so I am a fully qualified Teacher of Biology and Chemistry with Qualified Teacher Status. This means I am also up-to-date with recent advances in classroom teaching strategies and curriculum areas I am also a member of teaching staff at Belfast Metropolitan College, lecturing in Chemistry and Applied Science.
As I am a recent university graduate I provide an informal teaching experience akin to what you would expect at college or university. I am a laid-back and quite easy-going individual and do not work by bombarding you with information, that is, I do not give you the answer directly, but rather I try to break down the information so that it is more easily analyzed and leads you to make up your own mind about a topic and have this lead you to an answer. I am happy to give weekend sessions and I am free some afternoons if evenings do not suit.
