Hello, I'm Wilf and I'm a recent graduate of Glasgow University, having completed a BSc (Hons) in Neuroscience and an MRes in Biomedical Science. During my time studying I've covered most topics in biology, going from GCSE and A-level through University, where my main focus was human biology and neuroscience.
I'm currently working part-time as a researcher in a Glasgow Uni lab, and in October 2016 I will be moving to Freiburg, Germany, to start a PhD focusing on depression.
Although I have no formal teaching experience, during the various stages of my education I've taken part in group and peer-to-peer tutoring sessions. This has given me experience as both tutor and tutee, and I feel I have a good grasp of what helps and what doesn't help in these situations. I've been told that I am good at clearly explaining complicated and difficult concepts.
I am a relaxed and very patient person, and my approach will reflect this. I understand that confidence is particularly important in tackling many difficult pieces of school and coursework, and will aim to help students understand their work and build their confidence in finding answers. I will aim to identify any problems the student may be having and help them understand the concepts around the subject, rather than feeding them the right answers.
