I finished my PhD in physics at Cardiff University in July 2015. Since then I have been tutoring maths and physics to GCSE, A level and University students. I'm currently looking for funding for further research at the University and very much enjoying my tutoring in the meantime. I've had over 20 students since starting last year with a wide range of ability, which makes the job even more interesting,
During my undergraduate degree I sat over 30 maths and physics exams so I can also help with revision and exam techniques.
I'm a fluent Welsh speaker and happy to teach in English or Welsh.
- I have been tutoring full time since July 2015.
- As a STEM ambassador I have ran workshops for people of all ages on the subject of the science of sound.
- I have taught computational physics at undergraduate level for three years.
It all depends on the situation of the student. If I'm employed to help with revision then going over past papers is the way to go, snuffing out the weaknesses and build on the student's confidence. If it's more of a long term arrangement then I prefer to strengthen the understanding of schoolwork to make sure every topic in the syllabus is covered thoroughly.
Working through problems with an experienced problem solver helps build the knowledge and confidence of the student. I also think it's key to discuss topics on a broader scale to strengthen understanding of all areas of maths and physics.
