I am a retired psychology tutor and live in a beautiful part of Cornwall. I have many interests, films, books, travel and especially enjoy garden. Although I have quite an active lifestyle, with 10 grandchildren! there is a huge void in my life regarding teaching as I absolutely have a passion for my subject specialism and it is a subject that I miss teaching immensely. However, I enjoy the free time spend mostly walking my dog along the beaches of Cornwall.
I have taught many subjects over the years but my main subject specialism is psychology. I taught psychology over many years at Camborne College Cornwall and yo many student cohorts, from GCSE to Degree level. I was the programme manager for Access to HE and Working with Children and Young People, Muliti-Options, GCSE, A Level. I was the Manager and tutor of Additional support and and have completed part of a Masters Degree.
I am a true believer that support is the key element in a students success in education. I believe that no matter how trivial the student may believe it is providing they know they can access the support they require their chances of success improves dramatically. Simply knowing they have someone to turn to in all matters of education. Academic support is only part of the issue here, very often it is the social and emotional support which is equally important in the learning environment which enables the student to gain confidence and reach their full potential.
