I am a molecular and structural biologist, working for LifeArc, a research charity. I've previously lectured in undergraduate biology, and received my PhD from Birkbeck College, UoL. I have 6 years of experience teaching at the undergraduate level, as well as several more supervising undergrad projects and PhD students in lab environments.
I offer tutoring services for undergrad and post-graduate biology, as well as thesis and dissertation coaching, and proofreading servies. I also have experience working on thesis coching with students for whom English is a second language.
6 Years of teaching at the university level Biology, both in the UK and US
3 years supervising undergrad and PhD students in lab environments
3 years experience as a private tutor
I am available for tutoring Biology at the undergad and postgrad levels. I am adept at explaining complex biological concepts in an easy to understand straightforward manner, with years of experience doing so. Biology is a subject which involves a great deal of memorization at the academic level, but in application in research and industry, requires a synthesis and understanding of basic concepts, rather than an ability to recall facts. I prefer to teach with this in mind, making sure my students are capable of understanding they how and why of biological systems and how they interact, rather than simply recall a list. I believe that a deeper understanding of the subject will allow a student not only to test more confidently, but that this deeper understanding comes across in university interviews and when looking for a job.
