Private Maths and English Tuition in Norwich

Retired teacher with almost 50 years experience in primary and middle schools. Also experience working as a Further Education evening centre tutor teaching adult computer literacy and as a day time tutor working with adults who were unable to get jobs as their basic skills - English, Maths and IT were too low.

In addition I have worked as a private tutor for 20 years with primary children who need English or Maths extra tution, 11+ and 13+ candidates and secondary students who have dyslexia or dyscalculia.

Tutoring Experience

I was a first school Headteacher for 13 years and a middle school Maths specialist for 15 years. For 4 years I was a Leading ICT teacher in Essex teaching primary and middle school teachers how to use ICT in the class room. In this role I also home tutored looked after children making sure that their computing skills would enable them to make faster progress than they had been making.

I have prepared 4 children for 11+ (3 of which passed) and two students for 13+ (both passed).

Tutoring Approach

I have a relaxed and friendly manner and prefer working in the tutees home where they are more at ease. I use a range of methods to establish what the student needs to make further progress and target their specific weaknesses.

I expect that students will practice between sessions so they can progress as quickly as possible and so they are able to reach their goals and end tuition as early as possible.

N.B. Eaton is on the Southern edge of the city and I am not prepared to travel across the city nor (in the evenings) into the city.
