I am a French native speaker, who has lived in England for 31 years. I came to Newcastle-Upon-Tyne in 1986 to visit a friend for two weeks and and I loved the "English way" so much that I ended up settling in the city and later on I had the priviledge of doing a degree at Northumbria University and then a PGCE at Newcastle University. I am married to a British man and I have two sons. All of us being bilingual in French and English, we constantly switch from one language to the other, which is great fun!
I have been teaching French from KS1 to KS5 within different school environments for 24 years. Alongside teaching in schools, I have tutored
French privately to children from the age of 2 to 11 at nurseries and after school clubs. Also, I have tutored adults, who wanted to learn / improve their French for business or leisure reasons.
My goals are to establish:-
- what each student wants to achieve from learning French
- what level they are at / aim to be
- what learning needs / styles they have to plan tailor-made lessons
I strive to provide stimulating and imaginative lessons for the students and encourage their engagement and active involvement. Finally, as a native speaker, I can provide cultural knowledge/facts that can greatly enhance language learning and understanding.
