I have a very friendly personality and I enjoy working with young people. I have been a Guide Leader for many years which I find interesting and challenging. My hobbies include playing in a music ensemble; swimming; canoeing; walking; and designing and constructing my 00 gauge model railway.
I have taught maths in secondary schools for over thirty years, including GCSE and A level work. Some of my pupils have continued their studies at Oxford and Cambridge Universities. For the past 4 years I have been tutoring on a one to one basis for Key Stage 2, 3, GCSEs and A levels.
All my students have shown improvement in their understanding of maths and this has increased their confidence in the subject.
I volunteer at a local primary school, so am familiar with the new primary curriculum.
I recognise that each tutee is different and will need an individually tailored approach which uses appropriate resources for their style of learning.
I aim to reinforce and develop what has been taught at school so that tutees are able to participate in the subject with greater confidence.
I am happy to liaise with the class teacher if they feel this would help the student.
