For a limited number of students Umar is offering Maths and Science tuition at a reduced price of £30/hour for this academic year (was £45/hour) [please read below].
Umar completed his BSc. Physics from Imperial College London, an MSc. Management from London Business School and has worked at several Corporate companies including Microsoft and Shell.
Umar has 7 years teaching experience across different institutions including Teach First Schools, Tuition Centres and Youth Centres and has a 100% A*-A grade result rate for his A level Maths students and 100% A*-B Grade for his GCSE Science Students*
Please bear in mind that the 100% A*-B grade is for students who attend regularly from October until exam time. If a student is only attending once a month, or begins tuition in April and has 6 weeks until his/her exam, it is unrealistic to expect a student to go from a D to an A* in 6 weeks. Tuition is something that needs to be taken seriously.
Last year, given short timelines, Umar developed a comprehensive lesson plan (8 hours a week) which resulted in one of his GCSE Science students going from a U to a B just 13 weeks before last years GCSE science exam. Although this is achievable, it is highly recommended to start early as the later you leave tuition, the more hours you will need to catch up.
"Getting good grades is not the only thing you need to get a good job. Therefore, in addition to this, I provide advice on revision techniques, UCAS applications and best practices to ensure students are completing the correct extra-curricular activities they need to secure a place at their first choice university and subsequently, a job at a leading company such as Microsoft or Google.
Of course, there is a limit to how many students I am able to take, so I will be offering places on a first come first serve basis.
My approach is to develop a comprehensive learning plan to ensure everything is covered. I am constantly giving parents an update as to how their child is doing and am able to provide feedback on what their expected grade will be given their current work rate. We are then able to adjust the work rate to meet the grade requirement.
When it comes to teaching a subject, my approach is dependant upon whether the student is GCSE or A level. In GCSE I ensure every single thing in the syllabus is covered and constantly test to ensure the knowledge sticks with the student - this is what GCSEs are all about. They are not hard, they just need to be learned.
With A level my style is different. I create my own custom questions that cover exam content. I give the student my custom questions to work on in class, and probe them with questions. This increases a students thinking capacity and is the approach I take which has resulted in my 100% A*-B grade results at A level."
