Personal Description:

I have recently completed a part-time Masters in Classical Archaeology at King’s College London. The course focused on the art and society of the Greek and Roman worlds, a subject about which I have been passionate since I began learning Latin at the age of 12. I am hoping to pursue a career in museum work or museum education. I have also completed an undergraduate degree in French and Modern Greek, and I have spent a lot of time both living and travelling abroad. I have an interest in language, culture and travel, and I hope to share this passion with more young people. In my spare time, I also dance, hike and mountain bike to keep fit. I also enjoy photography and textiles.

Tutoring Experience:

I have spent two academic years as an English Language Assistant in France. I came away from both of these assistantships with a great deal of experience, wonderful memories of the schools and students, and a desire to continue teaching. Whilst in France, I also gave private lessons in English as a foreign language and French, which was an especially rewarding and enjoyable experience. I was able to build a close rapport with each student, assessing and catering for individual needs in a way that is not always possible in a large classroom environment. I taught students of a varying range of abilities, from those who were struggling at school and needed a confidence boost to those who were already at an advanced level and wanted to make the most of their potential.

Tutoring Approach:

I am enthusiastic about teaching and the subjects that I teach, which I believe is reflected in my lessons. I am used to lesson planning and, as well as sticking closely to the school syllabus, I try to incorporate particular interests of the student into each class, thus tailoring my lessons to individual needs. I am patient and encouraging yet I also strive for excellent results. I want to inspire more young people to learn languages and have fun whilst doing so.
