Private Maths and Chemistry Tutor in Twickenham

Good Day! My name is Travis Brooks, and I am a qualified doctor with an additional first class honours degree in Biomedical Science. I have extensive experience through teaching and my own work with a vast variety of primary, secondary, GCSE, A Level, and Degree Level Science in a variety of settings and exam styles, as well as a solid basis in both Computer Science and Mathematics. I also have a great insight into the Medical School Admissions Exam UKCAT, and can give overall and specific training for this essential medical school entrance exam.

I have a great passion for teaching, and it being done well, with the aim to inspire students to wish to learn more about the world around them, well at the same time tailoring this to allow the ever-crucial exams to be passed.

Tutoring Experience

I have worked as a personal tutor and general trainer in a variety of forms for the last five years, extending this to the role of university mentor, and mentor assessor in the last three. I am also qualified to give training on the art of teaching as well as assess in this field. This experience has allowed me to work with a variety of individuals from 5 - 75 and all ages in between, as well as gain a good understanding of the variety of methods of teaching available and those that will lead to the best results in the most efficient manner.

Tutoring Approach

My approach to tutoring will depend greatly on the individual in question as well as the desired outcome of the tutoring sessions, however in the first session I always establish an outline for where we are aiming to get to and how each session will allow us to move towards that. I will always try to explain concepts at there most basic level to begin with, building complexity as it arises, as well as ensuring that understanding is always present through simple questioning assessment. Each session is always finished with questioning to assess the knowledge given, and answer any questions that may arise.

Overall I hope the sessions are not a burden or chore for the pupil, but a way in which to inspire them to want to learn more, ask questions and develop a level of understanding in a comfortable and fun atmosphere, while almost unknowingly achieving the results required.
