I am 53, married and I have a grown up son. I have worked in education for 23 years; initially as a Senior Science Technician and for the last 14 years as a lecturer in A level Chemistry and Environmental Science. I have an avid interest in environmental issues and have organised successful research based student expeditions to Cuba and Peru through Operation Wallacea. I live in Lydney; on the edge of the Forest of Dean in Gloucestershire.
I have been a successful, specialist A level Chemistry and Environmental Science lecturer in a Further Education College for 14 years, also teaching Chemistry to adults on the Access to HE course and GCSE Human Physiology. I have regularly provided private A level Chemistry tuition through personal recommendations. I am able to provide experienced support and guidance; particularly as students face the synoptic aspects of the new two year programmes. I am a subject consultant for Ascentis; writing level 3 chemistry exam papers and mark schemes for the Access to HE programme. I am also an experienced academic tutor and could provide advice and guidance on UCAS applications and personal statements.I am familiar with the Extended Project qualification having been a Centre Coordinator for several years.
I think that students benefit from the opportunity for in depth evaluation, one to one support with topics that they find challenging and with exam practice. I have a wide range of teaching skills and will provide any resources such as worksheets, exam papers etc as required. I forge strong, respectful relationships and I take great pride in seeing my students reach their full potential. I am able to travel up to 15 miles
