Personal Description:

I am a recent graduate from the University of Leicester with a degree in BSc Business Economics.

Tutoring Experience:

I have been tutoring all levels from Key Stage 2 up to A-Levels since 2011.
I previously worked for a tutoring company called Lynx interactive for a year - after which I progressed to University where I maintained few clients alongside my degree. With this company I tutored 5 clients under Math (Key stage 2 and GCSE), Economics (AS Level) and Business Studies (GCSE).
In addition to this I have worked as a youth worker and run a creative writing workshop. This allows me flexibility and adaptability of my own curriculum and has further provided me with understanding of different learning styles.
I also worked with the educational facilitators Explore learning as a tutor, aiding in delivering the curriculm from Nusery to GCSE level… including all Key Stages, 11+ and GCSE preperation.
Furthermore I have worked as a teaching assistant in a primary school in Nigeria, assisting in delivering the British Primary Curriculum.

Tutoring Approach:

First I identify the tutee's abiity's - taking note of their strengths and weaknesses. This is usually done by a brief assessment based on the curriculum of the tutees study and usually composes of past examination questions or from an existing examination bank.
From there each lesson is dedicated to combatting a weakness and maintaing a strength.
So we will address the current understanding of the weaker topic, use examples to provide greater understanding and explanation and then give the tutee the opportunity to apply what he or she has learnt.

It is important to understand that individuals vary in learning methods, so with some I may need to talk more, with others it may just be guiding them as they do the work. This is important for me to establish through the initial lesson so as to find which way best suits the tutees memory and understanding.

I try to work with a time frame, so per month, I set a goal based on the ability and desired results of the tutee. And the end of the month, I put forward a review test to see if targets are met for both myself and the tutee. This helps us stay on track and know how to spread time.
