Home Tuition for Music in Macclesfield

I am a determined and reliable person who is always looking for a challenge. I have experience working in high pressure situations and attending to customers. At school I was outgoing. As a result, I was part of the year 11 student leadership team and part of the Sixth Form student leadership team. Having been part of Bollington United Football team and Tempo Theatre Company, I also have much experience working in a team. Currently I am studying Music (BMus degree) at Goldsmiths, University of London and am going into my second year. My first instrument is singing (baritone) however I am also well versed in piano. I also have a profound passion for music theory and composition. In my first year I have taken part the Goldsmiths Chamber Choir and also was part of the Goldsmiths Opera, working with people who also work at the Royal Opera House and Royal Academy of Music. This year I am currently Co-Music Director of Spring Awakening- the Musical Theatre Society's Musical. I will also be helping lead the University Opera later this year.

Tutoring Experience

Whilst at Sixth Form, I had multiple experiences teaching and assisting teachers at Dean Valley Primary school. In varying environments and subjects, adapting well to younger children. I have also had experience teaching older teenagers/ adults. Whilst at University, I have had the pleasure of being the Co-Music Director and have taught many students who have both and music and non-music backgrounds. This teaching was predominantly singing based, focussing on technique, projection and tone. I have also taught many other student elements of composition and music theory, helping them understand concepts for their university degree.

Tutoring Approach

I have a thirst and an emphatic passion for music and would love the opportunity to get others to feel the way I feel about music. From complex areas of theory to composition to performing. I love the feeling and joy music can bring. Music is a creative, personal subject and as a tutor I feel that these elements of music must be maintained even when focusing on the more academic/technical parts of music. I always endeavour to make even the most academic elements of music interesting and try to find a way to relate these elements into creative practice. Predominantly I would love to teach music theory, singing and composition.
