I am a 23 year old graduate from the University of Exeter, with a BSc in Economics and Politics and soon an MA in Political Philosophy. I am currently living in Swansea, Wales, where I was brought up, applying for work in political economy research in London and the USA. I love all things philosophy, political history and political economy and enjoy using this knowledge to better understand contemporary issues. There is no place I'd rather be than in a seminar room discussing the great works in political thought and philosophy. I have a special interest in existential philosophy and its application to communications technology in the modern age, which makes me all the more interested in using First Tutors to engage with students.
I regularly work with my younger sister who is currently completing her GCSEs to improve her knowledge and understanding as well as helping her coursework preparation in History, Maths and the Sciences.
I recognise how difficult and abstract philosophy, economics and political thought can sometimes be, which is why I make it my mission to always bring it back down-to-earth for students to understand and, most importantly, to enjoy. I recognise that for most students, getting a great grade to advance to university is the most important thing. With this in mind, I tailor my tutoring to the syllabus and what is required of students to move ahead, always keeping in mind what examiners are looking for, whether this means clearer writing or explanation of difficult concepts. I am myself also always trying to learn and challenge myself and my ideas and thus belief I can offer GCSE and A-Level students something a little extra to impress examiners.
