I'm a friendly, engaging and experienced teacher with a PhD in Cultural Policy and Management from the City University Centre for Culture and Creative Industries. Prior to my PhD I worked as a financial journalist and, as such, have significant experience of the UK economic, political and financial sphere. I also hold an MSc in Political Theory from the London School of Economics (Merit) and a BA (Hons) in Economic and Social Studies (2:1). I am particularly interested in the study of politics and the British government but I am able to teach on a broad range of subjects with confidence.
I currently work as an Associate Lecturer at the UAL London College of Communication and Goldsmiths University. This involves running lectures, seminars and workshops on a broad range of subjects including cultural policy, cultural theory, political economy and the media industry for MA and BA students. In addition to this I also run a number of workshops on dissertation and research practice and employability skills development. I also hold one-to-one tutorials with all my students. Further, I hold an Introductory Certificate in Teaching in Higher Education from City University.
I also have experience of teaching English as a foreign language to students aged between 11 and 18 at a school in Warsaw, Poland.
I am a strong believer in discursive teaching methods and will always seek to explore subjects from a relatable position for the student(s). Whenever possible I work from case studies in order to illustrate the 'real-world' application of what is being discussed and will consciously encourage students to take a critical approach to learning material. This also means that I work flexible and dynamically to accommodate the particular interests of the student(s).
