Personal Description:

I'm a 23-year old PhD student at the University of Edinburgh studying Science and Technology Studies. I hold two degrees from the University of Cambridge: an MSci in History and Philosophy of Science and double-first class degree in Natural Sciences. I also hold an MSc in Science and Technology Studies from the University in Edinburgh. I've been teaching or tutoring in one form or another since I was 18, and it's always been an absolute pleasure to help students to achieve more than they thought they were capable of.

Tutoring Experience:

I have extensive experience tutoring Sciences up to A-level, English and Maths to GCSE, pre-university Medicine and ESL. I've taught 1-on-1, 2-on-1, and in classroom environments from small to large numbers of students. I currently teach Sociology and Social Policy at undergraduate level, as well as KS3 Science and Maths, and A-level Biology.

Tutoring Approach:

I firmly believe that tutoring should be student-led, with the tutor acting as a guide - asking questions, identifying areas of strength and weakness and helping to push the student to fulfil their potential in a subject. That said, school work can be a drudge sometimes, and it's incredibly important that a tutor has a real passion for the subjects they teach. I have a strongly multidisciplinary background, something which I'm keen to bring to bear in lessons, ensuring that students come out not just with exceptional subject knowledge, but with an appreciation for knowledge and critical thinking and the value they can bring.
