Tim

Sheffield Tutor

I'm a friendly, calm, and professional tutor. My primary focus is on Chemistry, which I studied at the University of Sheffield, receiving a 1st. I spent a year of my studies in Bordeaux, in the south of France, and remain fluent in French. Aside from tutoring, I work as a technician at the Students' Union, staffing and managing events.
In my spare time I volunteer as part of a University drama society, and have completed a Master's degree in Theatre Studies. I also play the guitar, and have recently taken up the saxophone.

As well as my listed subjects, I can offer tutoring in presentation skills and developing confidence. As you'd expect, this is helpful for presentations, but also helps with interviews, as well as being a useful life skill.

Tutoring Experience

I haven't worked as a teacher, but I've tutored friends and family acquaintances, and have worked as a drama leader for undergraduate students for several years. In my work as a technician I regularly teach junior members of the team on-the-job.

Tutoring Approach

I'm flexible to the needs of the person I'm tutoring. It's important to establish what they want out of the tuition - for example, exam coaching requires a different approach from getting to grips with a difficult part of the curriculum. If you want to discuss the best approach for your situation, I'm happy to talk about it before we start.
