I am a fully qualified Further Education lecturer in my second year of teaching. My interests include Religious Studies, Theology, Critial Thinking, Communication and Culture. I am currently studying for a doctorate and have a Master's degree in theology.
I am currently in my second year of teaching A - Levels at Canterbury College, having completed a PGCE at Christ Church. I have taught a wide range of qualification including AS and A2 Religious Studies, AS and A2 Critical Thinking and AS Communication and Culture (including a coursework component) as well as practical courses such as the ASDAN's CoPE award. I have also worked as a form tutor to both AS and A2 level students and can offer advice and guidance on UCAS applications. in my PGCE year I worked with learners who have English as a Second Language, and learners with Special Needs.
As a teacher and a tutor I use a selection of teaching and learning techniques developed in my teaching career to date. I have taught a wide variety of students at a variety of different levels. I am good at breaking down information into bitesize pieces, adapting my teaching and learning to suit the needs of the student, as well as using Information technology to aid the learning process. I realise that part of academic achievement is well - being and that in order for learners to learn they must be comfortable with their tutor. I am therefore friendly and take a genuine interest in moving learners on to the next level of education. In my work as a form tutor, I have become aware that post - 16 is a tough time for young people, and I strive to create a friendly atmosphere, where real learning can take place.
