Personal Description:

Hi there my name is Tom, and I am a cureently studying a master in applied mathematics (specialising in theoretical physics) at cambridge university. I love physics and mathematics and am hoping to pursue a career in academia and teaching after finishing, having studied theoretical physics at university before I am lucky to have learnt in depth both physics and mathematics and have picked up a few learning tricks along the way. Please get in touch if you have any questions, I am extremely flexible when it comes to scheduling and am prepared to travel to most places. Due to still studying at university I'm quite limited in terms of what space I can offer, however still get in touch and we can arrange something.

Tutoring Experience:

I have had approximately 15 permanent (year plus of tutoring) students in the past, however I tend to take on more students around the January and June exam periods to offer extra revision sessions for them. I am familiar and have experience teaching most of the big exam board syllabuses (a full list is given below) and generally teach mainly GCSE and A-Level students.

Subject & Exams Board Syllabuses

Maths & Further Maths

OCR (Both MEI and non MEI)
Edexcel
AQA (All subjects, i.e pure, statistics, uses of mathematics)

Physics

OCR (Physics A & Physics B)
Edexcel
AQA (Physics A, Physics B & Applied Science)

Tutoring Approach:

My approach to teaching consists mainly of a 50:50 of going over problems done outside of class and then going through examples in preparation for attempting new problems. I have a few different textbooks I use (depending on subject and exam board) with exercises and problems suitable and can suggest additional resources should you need it. I am however more than happy to do spend the time doing whats best for you and what you want, so in the past some students only wanted help with going over homework problems they were working on in school, or clarifying notes they're unsure on. I tend to ask students to complete a mini quiz prior to our first session, this is mainly for me to gauge the students ability and plan a lesson accordingly.
