Personal Description:

I am 23 and a University of Aberdeen graduate, having graduated in July 2015 with a 2:1 Joint Master of Arts in International Relations and History. I have experience of higher level subjects, having attained an A in Politics, B in History, B in Philosophy and a B in Modern Studies at higher level secondary.

My honours year dissertation focussed on Arctic Governance and territory disputes for which I achieved a 2:1 grade, despite being an international relations dissertation Historical government and political elements all featured strongly.

Employment includes 3 months at the European Policies Research Centre in Glasgow, working as a Temporary Assistant providing general administration help, proofreading and organisational assistance to the EPRC team in the summer of 2014.

Employment at EPRC continued in 2016 as a Temporary Research Assistant from April to August. The role gave more responsibilities, including in depth analytical and research tasks directly involving my input on many of the centres tenders, project proposals and ongoing commissioned work. A reference from Prof John Bachtler, Director of EPRC can be obtained upon request.

I endeavour to give the utmost I can in any role, patience, dedication and care are qualities I pride myself on having, intertwined with excellent listening skills enables me to provide the best answers and analysis to questions as possible.

I keep active and am a semi professional badminton player, I have played and currently play for the University of Aberdeen's badminton team in British Universities Championships (BUCS), I am ranked in Scotland and have won several tournaments hosted by Highland Badminton Group.

I have a passion for history, politics, governance and policy, this passion, amongst other things has helped inform my decision to take up study of a Law masters postgraduate course (LLM) at Aberdeen University.

I have a basic disclosure check that I have voluntarily obtained at my own cost for any potential clients piece of mind, this check was undertaken by Disclosure Scotland, if any client would like proof of the disclosure I would be more than happy to provide it.

I am willing to travel and have my own car, however please be aware that a long or extended distance of travel will incur an extra cost, this will depend on the distance required to travel outside of the Aberdeen City area.

Tutoring Experience:

My degree and employment has helped to develop in depth research and analytical skills. A calm, measured and competent approach to tuition will always aim to give the tutee the best service possible. Going the extra mile to ensure complete customer satisfaction is something I fully endorse and apply to my approach with tutoring.

Teaching experience includes informal teaching and tutoring, helping friends with their studies and providing basic guidance on subject matter. Coaching and developing skills in badminton at Invergordon Academy as an informal coach at the school's after school badminton club which runs in conjunction with their PE department.

Undergoing private tuition within my own education means I have a good working knowledge around good practice, techniques involved and the environment needed to develop the skills necessary to acheive the best results and realise the potential a tutee has.

Tutoring Approach:

A measured and reasoned approach, taking into consideration the course material that the tutee covers in his/her studies, as well as their temperment and attitude to the course is needed to provide the best service and attain the best results. I would ensure that the tutoring offered was as done so in as calm and relaxed an atmosphere as possible, without compromising the learning capacity. Putting tutees and clients at ease, giving them control and allowing flexability is something I regard as being very important.

I'm passionate about the subjects I offer tuition in and have done a lot of major, in depth analytical work on a broad range of topics relating to the subjects I offer tuition in. My previous experience and work around those subjects allows me special insight into the subject areas I offer.

I have extensive experience in writing critical and analytical essays, literature reviews and bibliographies on a number of different case studies and topics. My goal with regard to tutoring is to deliver my best possible service to tutees, ensuring that they achieve the best results possible for their academic progression.
