I am a final year History student at the University of Sheffield willing to teach GCSE History. I am passionate about the subject and I hope to inspire students of all abilities to be confident in their writing about history so they can achieve higher grades and succeed in assessments.
Half a year tutoring experience.
I understand the pressure many students face at GCSE level as they are often overwhelmed by heavy, dense textbooks. For this reason, my teaching is anchored to the mark scheme and is focussed on the key events, individuals and characteristics of any given historical period. Through this approach, I aim to bring clarity to the student's thinking and develop their understanding of history while giving them the tools to more easily evaluate cause, consequence and the process of change, both long-term and short-term. I also help students to think critically about historical sources and enable them to write succinctly and cogently about their significance in wider historical processes. I encourage all of my students to read widely around their topic as this is a crucial element in improving grades. Through my teaching, I aim to impart my love for the subject to the student as a genuine desire to learn about fascinating eras of history is the best way of breaking down any barriers the student may have in their learning.
