I am a History graduate who teaches both History and English. I am passionate about these subjects and I hope to inspire students of all abilities with the confidence needed to achieve their desired grades and to succeed in assessments.
Two years of tutoring experience.
I understand the pressure many students face when studying history as they are often overwhelmed by heavy, dense textbooks. For this reason, my teaching is anchored to the mark scheme and is focussed on the key events, individuals and characteristics of any given historical period. Through this approach, I aim to bring clarity to the student's thinking and develop their understanding of history while giving them the tools to more easily evaluate cause, consequence and the process of change, both long-term and short-term. I also help students to think critically about historical sources and enable them to write succinctly and cogently about their significance in wider historical processes. I encourage all of my students to read widely around their topic as this is a crucial element in improving grades. Through my teaching, I aim to impart my love for the subject to the student, for a genuine desire to learn about the past helps to break down barriers in the student's learning.
