Originally from Birmingham, qualified in Anatomy in the University of Dundee, and a PhD in Anatomy in Leeds University, I am now reading Medicine at the University of Warwick. I have previous experience teaching in Anatomy, as well as private tuition for A Level maths and biology, and GCSE subjects including all Sciences, Maths, English literature and language and have often supported students in other areas they are struggling. I take pride in my work, so I ensure that I do reading prior to tuition and if there is anything I have missed out or wish to add/correct, I ensure that this information is passed on as soon as possible, and then covered in the next session as a revision.
I am a hard worker, with experience in managerial experience, teaching experience in different settings and am often used to proofread works from a variety of people. I'm not afraid to dive in to the deep end and I relish the opportunity to learn something new - something I aim to pass on when I am tutoring. I have just finished as an anatomy demonstrator, for many students at the University of Leeds. I have privately tutored two academic students - several a GCSE student in a private school, and another in A Levels. In addition to this, I often proofread works relating to history, heritage management, computing and forensics all to a university level.
I have taught 40 volunteers skills such as active listening, customer experience, empathic communications, emotional resilience and methods of providing support.
I understand students sometimes take a while to grasp a key point - sometimes this might be because the concept is new, or sometimes it is because the approach to the subject isn't in a way that the student prefers. I prefer to identify the method of learning that ensures retention of information the best and utilize that. I have a can-do attitude and won't allow negativity. It is usually just that this subject needs to be addressed in a different method or that the student has lost motivation. In this case, I would allow for a break to get a glass of water and maybe revise a previous lesson for 5 minutes, before readdressing the more difficult subject.
