Thibaut

Hi and thanks for visiting my profile!

I am an American-French singer-songwriter based in Honor Oak and have lived in London since 2011. I have been playing guitar and writing my own works since 2010. I just completed my Masters in Popular Music from Goldsmiths this past December, 2018.

Following this pathway has led me to collaborate with many fantastic musicians and work on many assorted projects alongside my solo material. Being a prolific songwriter, I have worked on a wide range of projects, each of which reflects an aspect of my musical passion. I have also worked as a creative director on many of those projects.

Besides writing and performing music I have a deep interest in various creative practices which I find inspiring including photography, perfumery, poetry, and fine art. These other creative outlets feed off of my main musical craft and vice versa. My thorough and comprehensive interest in the creative sector manifests my passion for expression and represents my holistic approach to creative practices including playing guitar.

Tutoring Experience

My experience tutoring began informally with my role as a creative director in my band, Kneaded and an acoustic duet Manila. Collaborating with other musicians helped to develop my capacity to teach my works to fellow musicians on an advanced level.

Since completing my degree I have taken on several students whom I see on a regular basis, either weekly or fortnightly.

Tutoring Approach

Everyone learns differently and my approach to teaching accommodates all learning styles, whether visual, auditory or kinesthetic. and so my approach is flexible to different learning techniques.

Our first lesson is focused on working out what connects you to the guitar; what draws you to this instrument and what goals you might have for your own learning. This will also help me create a bespoke teaching method according to your own needs, goals, and personal learning approach. Establishing goals early on also means that we can break down these goals into manageable parts and set realistic due dates to monitor your progress.

After each 1 hour lesson, I supply you with clear, detailed notes for you to refer back to. I often include chord diagrams, links to learning resources, and outline key concepts. I make these notes available either through an online drive or I am happy to email you a pdf if you would like to print them.
