This is how 2 referees rated Tessa:
I am an enthusiastic music student just about to graduate with a BMus from King's College London. During my degree I received vocal tuition at the Royal Academy of Music and now study privately with a Professor from the Guildhall School of Music and Drama.
I am available to tutor:
-GCSE and A Level Music Students.
I supported myself through sixth form teaching beginners piano to young children. Since then, my degree program has provided me with the knowledge and experience to return to peripatetic teaching not only as piano tutor, but also as a tutor for school students studying academic music and music theory students.
In addition to peripatetic teaching, in 2010 I also worked as a volunteer music director of the drama group 'Acting Up!' and coordinated a large group of young children aged 7-12 to bring a successful production to the stage.
My approach to teaching operates under the principle that each student is different. Therefore, at the start of teaching any new student my primary aims will be to assess the level at which a student is at and how I can best communicate new ideas to them in order to help them to fulfil their potential.
I feel strongly that lessons must be exciting and engaging, and, particularly for younger children, maintaining enthusiasm and positivity is of the utmost importance, as these are the conditions under which a young musician will flourish.
With regards music theory and academic music, listening will be an important aspect of my tuition as it provides a context for the more cerebral and literary aspects of study, and in the case of GCSE and A Level, is crucial for the revision process.
