Personal Description:

I am a MA student studying Political Theory at the University of Sheffield. I have a first class degree in Philosophy from the University of Cambridge. I did A Levels in philosophy, English literature and art history and will happily tutor in all of those subjects. I find tutoring very rewarding and am always genuinely invested in the progress of students, especially when it is crucial to the next step of their education!

Tutoring Experience:

I have tutored extensively in:
Philosophy and Ethics across all exam boards
English Language and Literature GCSE
History of Art

I have also done some interview prep with students considering Oxbridge

Tutoring Approach:

I find that engaging the student in the topic is the essential first step: I like to discuss the work and how it relates to the real world and current affairs. I believe that whilst exam technique is essential, a student will always do their best when they are genuinely interested in what they are studying rather than just following a formula. I have various methods of teaching depending on the learning style of the individual student and the proximity of the exam. As the exam gets closer, focus on timing, memory of detail and technique become more pressing. But before that happens the ideas and arguments need to be fully consolidated. I will give feedback on writing style throughout and can provide my own detailed guide to essay style.
