Subalakshmi

I’m a 27 y/o Research Masters student at Imperial College London with a BSc (Hons) Biology degree from the University of York. I finished schooling with A* equivalents in all my subjects (Biology, Maths, Chemistry, Physics, English). I’ve also gained valuable skills like communication, organisation, responsibility and professionalism while running my own startup and also managing a jewellery boutique for a few years. I’m very passionate about explaining concepts and teaching, which made my uni professors and peers to urge me to become a tutor. I’m very dedicated, with a clear head and always have a plan, and highly motivated to help the student achieve their goals in a fun way!

Tutoring Experience

I’ve tutored in informal settings in my school and university, tutored briefly for a couple months in my city, and also tutored one-to-one in York for a few months.

Tutoring Approach

I believe in understanding rather than mere memorisation and my teaching is geared more towards making the topic/concept clearly understood by the pupil. I try my best and use resources in the most efficient way to make sure there is a clear and deep understanding of the topic and making sure the student feels comfortable in the subject before moving on to the next one.

The focus is on the student, what he/she wants to achieve, what they are struggling with and the best way of approach for them to understand the topic.
