I am a highly qualified tutor with PhD, MA, BA, and PGCE degrees. As well as teaching privately, I also teach in a higher and further education setting working with level three (A level) and degree level students. As well as being an academic, I am a creative practitioner and have worked professionally in many different ways: as a musician, composer and recording artist in the UK and USA; as a theatre and drama practitioner in the roles of writer, director and performer, and as an artist exhibiting sound art, digital video and photography in gallery spaces.
My tutoring expertise both private and in educational settings is varied and I have taught on many different courses:
BA (Hons) Professional Studies (Creative Industries)
BA (Hons) Professional Studies (Theatre and Dance)
BA (Hons) Photography
Foundation Degree Graphics and eMedia
Foundation Degree Artistic Makeup and Special Effects
Foundation Degree Acting & Dance
BTEC Creative Media Production
BTEC Interactive Media
Functional Skills English
Much of my teaching is focused on supporting students in the writing of scholarly dissertations and essays which includes advising on research sources, time management, writing and study skills, academic conventions, and also how to develop the skills necessary for critical analysis as well as visual interpretation.
My private tutoring experiences also include working with postgraduate students at PhD, MSc and MA level advising on research presentations, multiple mini interview processes (MMI) for medical and dentistry degrees; Masters research within the field of Cognitive Behaviour Therapy, MA in Media and Communication, and PGCE degrees. I have also supported DLA students with dyslexia, advised on university applications and supported students in the development of personal statements for University UCAS applications and interview technique.
Having had a wide variety of teaching experiences I have gained excellent communication skills. Being able to listen and plan exactly what the student wants is integral to my approach. From this a bespoke scheme of learning is created. All of my lessons are exciting, creative and students are encouraged to always try their best and enjoy their learning. Ultimately, I am able to provide tuition that draws from a variety of professional and academic experiences in order to make learning not only fun, but also a fully enhanced experience.

I have found Stuart to be an excellent teacher. He is very patient and helpful and he structures my lessons to suit my ability. I would not hesitate to recommend him.
Thank you for the kind words and endorsement. I sincerely wish Lawrence all the best for the future and wish him success in all his exams. let me now when you get the results of his drama A level.
All the best
Stuart's patience and understanding, together with the way that he explains the mechanics and theory of guitar in a way that I, as a complete novice, can understand, has served to inspire me to believe that with his help I can achieve the objective I set for myself when I first contacted him.
In conclusion, all I wish to say is thank you Stuart for all your help, I would also highly recommend you to anyone wishing to learn to play the guitar, irrespective of age and ability because you are an inspirational teacher of this often complex instrument
