I graduated from the University of Manchester in 2015, whereby I achieved a 2:1 in Psychology. This has provided me with a strong understanding of developmental psychology and different techniques than can effectively be applied to teaching. Before this I studied at Pates Grammar School, whereby I achieved A levels in Psychology (A), Philosophy (A) and Drama (B).
I have been tutoring for the past three years for various ages and capabilities.. I have also volunteered in local schools through my time at University, helping those, especially at Primary level, with academic problems they may be struggling with.
My approach to tutoring is incredibly relaxed as I am aware that often when children are seeking further assistance, they can feel stressed and pressured by this. Therefore by creating a friendly environment, often children are more likely to succeed. I will set weekly homework sessions (not much) but in order for a child to recap what we have gone over, as repetition is key when learning ideas. Lastly I will bring passion to what I am teaching, these are all subjects I would love children to succeed in, so my energy and enthusiasm can hopefully wear off on who I am tutoring.
