Steven

Hi, I'm Steven. I work as a postdoctoral researcher at the University of Birmigham. I have a PhD and Master's degree in Biomedical Engineering and an undergraduate degree in Sports Science.

I have a passion for all things science and mathematical. I have worked with and been successful in helping young people of all interests and abilities.

I aim to bring out the best in children to help them achieve and feel a pride in what they do. I find this very rewarding and hope to find a way for different types of learners to make good progress.

Tutoring Experience

I have provided tutoring services to young and adult students at Key Stages 2, 3, GCSE and A-Level. For the past two years I have tutored in Maths and Sports Studies but I'm happy to cover Sciences too.

I also tutor medical students at the University of Birmingham. I have also been a lecturer and tutor to postgraduate and other undergraduate students in the subjects of statistics, health research, biomedical devices, and biomechanics (human movement).

Tutoring Approach

I hope to provide support and guidance for pupils of all ages and abilities. I endeavour to gain the student's confidence so they are in a positive frame of mind, relaxed and enthusiastic to learn.I use a variety of teaching methods to enhance learning and make the lessons interesting and fun.

I tailor my tuition to the needs and expectations of my students.
I like to build confidence in my students. We all learn by practicing skills and "doing". The key to good teaching is providing lots of opportunity to develop ideas in a non-threatening environment and then giving quality feed-back with lots of next steps.
I always try to furnish my students with as wide a range of learning opportunities as possible.
