Currently working at 11-18 academy/secondary schools. Available to hold private tutoring sessions during evenings, weekends and school holidays. Happy to discuss on individual basis. Sessions are arranged on a week-by-week basis rather than block bookings or long term contracts, but generally when a student decides to have regular sessions can keep to the same time each week for the majority. Based in Dursley - had previous students from surrounding areas including Cam, Wotton, Stroud, Thornbury and nearby villages, with some scope to visit students in Yate, Chipping Sodbury, Frampton, Winterbourne and other nearby areas. Happy to have tutees visit us for lessons but also willing to travel (subject to location, can be discussed). Although the extra income is useful we truly have a desire to help young people fulfill their ambitions and any part we can play gives us a sense of great satisfaction.
Qualified science teachers in secondary schools for about 14 years. Leema specialises in Chemistry at GCSE and A-Level. Steve is a Physics and Astronomy specialist with experience teaching IB Physics alongside A-level and GCSE - having a Physics degree and teaching high levels of maths within the GCSE/A Level Physics courses means he is able to offer maths tutoring up to GCSE level. Liana is a Biology specialist up to A Level. We are happy to teach general science at KS3 and GCSE. We have taught across several schools making us familiar with various different exam boards and exam styles that are available. We have worked with thousands of students of various abilities - we can help them improve their grades by using our knowledge of what a higher grade student needs to know and how to reach the required level, or simply install confidence and reinforce the knowledge and skills for those who are already reaching their potential. We have experience of private tutoring so can easily adapt techniques to suit individuals or paired students. We are generally very popular with pupils both in terms of our teaching ability and also our friendly and welcoming attitude in lessons. Whenever we have had feedback from pupils and/or parents it has been very positive.
We like to make my students feel relaxed and try to enjoy lessons, without putting them under too much pressure, but at the same time giving the opportunity to improve and reach their full potential. Techniques vary depending on the needs of the student; some sessions may be just discussing/explaining whereas some may involve practicing questions and exam techniques. We are open to the possibility of students guiding us as to which style or activity they would prefer for each session based on their requirements and confidence.
