Information About Steve - Cheltenham tutor
This is how 2 referees rated Steve:
I am a fully qualified Mathematics Teacher, who has worked within the UK and internationally.
Having recently moved to Cheltenham, I teach at a local Secondary School. I went straight from school to university to teaching, but have many interests as well. These include travelling, as well as more creative hobbies such as photography and video editing.
The main reason I became a teacher was to help students understand the topics and areas they found most difficult.
I qualified as a teacher in 2005, completing my PGCE at the University of Warwick.
This followed on from gaining a Mathematics BSc Degree in 2001-04.
Since then, I have taught at Secondary State schools in Solihull, Coventry and Cheltenham, as well as at schools in Dubai and Moscow.
I have taught at all levels, from running sessions for primary school students to teaching GCSE and A-Level Mathematics.
In addition, I have previously run tutoring sessions for groups of students, at KS2, KS3, KS4 and KS5 levels.
My approach to tutoring is completely student-focussed.
My knowledge of Mathematics means that I am able to be adaptable and can teach whichever topic is required, at any given time. As well as preparing topics for students that they know they are struggling with, I can help to assess which areas require more work. Also, should a student need clarification or explanation of the skills being looked at at their school, I have a ready selection of tasks and methods that will help to clear up any misconceptions.
I feel that Mathematics is one area where both extra practice and viewing alternative methods are essential to help progress to the next level.
