I am a bright, positive and helpful individual. I chose a career in teaching because I love working with young adults (I teach 16-18 year olds) and enjoy the camaraderie with this age group. I have a strong passion for anything mathematic and have spread this love out into other subjects of high numerical content such as physics and UKCAT/BMAT preparation.
I am also very musical and sporty - I have trained and competed both gymnastics and badminton since a young age (though I don't compete in gymnastics anymore!) and play 5 musical instruments to either diploma or grade 8 standard (which I also teach!)
I work very closely with some of the major exam boards as a Principal Examiner writing the high-level questions for advanced Maths exams alongside further moderation work marking exam scripts (advanced Maths and Physics) and question-writing for the UKCAT and BMAT. I have also created my personal, privately owned Mechanics, Statistics and Core papers designed to push my students beyond the general scope. I can help greatly with exam technique and provide excellent advice on how to reach exam success from an actual examiner’s viewpoint.
Year-on-year over 90% of my student register comprises high-ability students, typically those applying to study Medicine, Dentistry and Maths. I have a wealth of experience in these spheres and can offer this additional benefit to prospective students.
I have taught from all of the AQA, Edexcel, OCR and OCR-MEI syllabuses, comprising all the modules of A-level Maths and Further Maths (Core 1-4, Further Pure 1-3, Statistics 1-4 and Mechanics 1-5). There are very few individuals who can teach this number of modules of advanced Maths even fewer who can offer such further specialisation.
I teach in a very relaxed, encouraging and jolly style which I best feel develops the intelligence and thinking of my tutees. I will give all the help as necessary to my tutees, though in the first instance, I will always push my students to think hard and laterally to give me the answer before I give any hints and directions! This method allows students to develop a more refined exam technique and independent ability. I have a wealth of knowledge to give to my students having work with the very exam boards that they will be tested under.
