I am a fully qualified teacher (QTS) of mathematics with a 1st class (Hons) degree in Materials Science. All my tutees to date have found me very approachable and immediately feel at ease which is important for learning and making progress.
I have several years mathematics teaching experience in secondary schools and now work as a full time tutor. I have helped A level, GCSE, and year 9 pupils improve by at least a grade or half a level over the last 2 years.
My approach is to initially test and assess, then focus on weaknesses in addition to consolidating stronger areas. This generally builds around what has already been learned in school. However, I work together with the tutee to find the best way for them to move forward and therefore individually tailor the lessons to suit them and their progress. I use different approaches to explain topics and work on common misconceptions to provide greater understanding and application.
