I have a love of education and helping students to develop their mathematical skills so that they are in a strong and confident position to solve mathematical problems and also to sit their examinations.
I have a relaxed informal style yet ensure that students skills are developing by checking progress at the end of every session.
I am midway through a Secondary PGCE in mathematics at the University of York. I have had two placements at local secondary schools and have planned, delivered and marked lessons in a variety of topics.
As a volunteer I have delivered Mastery Level mathematics lessons to a group of Year 6 pupils in a local primary school.
I have recently tutored two students for their GCSE mathematics which they sat in June. Last year I tutored a student to an A Grade in his iGCSE.
My approach to tutoring is to give my students the confidence to tackle mathematical problems independently after we have solved some together. Students often just need to understand how to approach a question and then they can do it themselves. At the initial first free consultation I agree a scheme of work with my student, focusing on areas in which they feel less confident. This can often change as new topics are covered so I am very flexible to adapt plans.
I have a range of first class resources available for all topics and would pre-print these to use in our lessons.
