Information About Stephen - Wallasey tutor
I'm 48 years old and I graduated in 2003 as a mature student with a 2:1 Honours Degree in History, Politics and International Relations. I also hold an MA in Education. Before getting into teaching I spent some time travelling in Europe, Asia and the Middle East including a year working on a kibbutz in Israel. I am currently living in New Brighton with my wife and nine year-old son. I am a very approachable, enthusiastic and knowledgeable teacher.
I have fourteen years experience teaching History in secondary schools including over four years as a Head of Department. I have also been a GCSE examiner and I am currently a Team Leader for A-Level examiners and have received consistently positive feedback from the exam board for the quality of my marking. I have taught GCSE History for most of my teaching career and have an excellent record of results. I am very familiar with both OCR and AQA exam specifications and my specialisms are Medicine Through Time, American West and Germany 1919-1945.
My approach to tutoring is the same as my approach to teaching and that is to get students excited and motivated to learn about the past. I use a variety of styles and activities in order to deepen students' understanding of the subject and I have a sound knowledge of exam techniques. As a GCSE examiner I know exactly what is required to hit those top marks and I aim to help students overcome anxieties and worries about exams.
