Information About Stephen - Aberdeen tutor - (1 review)
This is how 2 referees rated Stephen:
Young professional full-time History teacher in Aberdeen City. I have passion for teaching History content as well as exam technique. I have a clear, flexible and personable approach to teaching that is backed up by success in certificate level teaching.
I have experience in teaching in the Western Isles and Aberdeen City. I have full responsibility for National 3,4,5 and Higher and have a strong record of results in each. I am also a marker for the SQA.
I have experience of the following topics:
National level: Era of the Great War 1900-1928, Migration and Empire 1830-1939, Changing Britain 1760-1900, Hitler and the Rise of Nazi Germany 1919-1939.
Higher level: Impact of the Great War, Britain 1851-1951, Italy 1815-1939.
This is, of course, not an exhaustive list. I am happy to prepare to tutor any topic.
I believe that pupils should be at the centre of the learning process and that they should be encouraged to learn in whatever way suits them best. If recalling content is the issue, I am open to exploring different learning strategies and adapting my teaching to meet the needs of the individual learner. Furthermore, I put the SQA's key illustrative areas at the heart of constructing efficient and effective notes.
The second essential part of the History exam is understanding question technique at National level and essay technique at Higher level. Once again, if this is where the issue is identified I have clear structures and processes that will help to develop pupil understanding of where the marks are gained and how to achieve them.
