I have a PGCE in sociology from Queens University Belfast. My Under Graduate degree is also in Sociology with Criminology from Ulster University Jordanstown. I am a friendly, out going person with a passion for Sociology, History and Citizenship.
I have taught GCSE history, focusing on Nazi Germany and the Cold War in a Grammar School in Armagh. I am also currently teaching AS and A Level Sociology at a Grammar School in Dungannon. As well as this I have taught KS3 History, Religion and Learning for Life and Work, both exam and non exam. Before applying for my PGCE, I worked as a classroom assistance, which included extra one on one sessions with pupils focusing on literacy skills.
I feel tutoring should be carried out in the students own home where they feel more comfortable and relaxed. It creates a safe environment for pupil's to reach their full potential. I feel that by taking the time and talking to pupils in a one on one environment allows for more discussion which may not be available in the classroom. It is necessary to carry out questions and past papers during the sessions and I make it a priority to focus on exam technique. It is of utmost importance to me that there is a good relationship between parents, pupils and the tutor.
