Information About Sophie - Thornton Heath tutor
I am a friendly and enthusiastic tutor who encourages students to develop their own learning techniques and specifically to grow in confidence. I am half Swiss and half English, and have been raised bilingually speaking both French and English. I am passionate about languages and relish the opportunity to encourage others to feel the same way. I am very patient and have excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
I am new to professional tutoring, having only taught French in an informal capacity to friends and colleagues. However, having studied French from primary school right the way through to degree level at university, I am familiar with the curriculum and am passionate about inspiring people of all ages to enjoy learning a new language. My expertise lies with speaking and my teaching methods focus on improving my student's communication skills and pronunciation to increase their confidence when speaking.
Learning languages should be a fun experience, and my teaching methods aim to reflect that! Confidence when speaking is key to language development, so I focus on improving my students' communication and pronunciation skills to increase their confidence. I differ my teaching methods depending on the age and ability of my student; for younger children my lessons aim to be very interactive, with images, games and short stories. For GCSE students I use past papers and focus heavily on grammar, listening and reading comprehension and oral skills.
