I am a fully qualified, 'Outstanding' teacher of English. Having worked as a classroom teacher for four years, I have chosen to take a new step in my career, and I now work as a full time private tutor. I am enthusiastic, passionate about my subject, and committed to helping my students to achieve the best they possibly can.
My experience as a classroom teacher has provided me with invaluable skills for unlocking students' potential and helping them to achieve their goals, whether this be improving their confidence, their grades, or their enjoyment of the subject. I am kind, patient and motivational, and above all, I absolutely love teaching my subject.
I have extensive training and experience in teaching English at Key Stage 3, GCSE and A-Level, and I have a thorough knowledge of all major exam boards and specifications.
I have worked in a girls' grammar school in Buckinghamshire and a mixed comprehensive in Bromley. I have therefore worked with students with a wide range of needs and abilities, including students with English as an additional language, students with special educational needs, and gifted and talented students.
I am also TEFL-qualified and have taught English as a foreign language to secondary school students in France and Reunion Island.

I use a tailored approach to ensure that tutoring sessions are always suited to the student's specific needs, strengths and interests. Whilst ensuring that all areas of the curriculum are covered, I will work with the student to identify areas of weakness and help them to focus on improving these. I also use a range of methods to help students engage and make progress. For example, some students find the use of visual or auditory resources helpful, while others respond well to discussion, debate, note-taking, or even a bit of healthy competition!
