Information About Sophie - Leeds tutor
This is how 2 referees rated Sophie:
I am a fully qualified English teacher in an 'Outstanding' school in West Yorkshire. Having completed my degree in English Language and Literature from the University of Leeds in 2012, I jumped straight into teaching and have been pouring myself into the profession ever since. I love sharing my passion for English with both eager and reluctant learners, and have always been committed to doing the best job I possibly can.
I have been teaching in an 'Outstanding' secondary school since 2013. During this time, I have gained extensive experience in teaching Key Stages 3, 4 and 5. Most recently, I have successfully guided two year groups through the new GCSE specifications for both English Language and English Literature, and feel well-placed to tutor students in both disciplines. Whilst my experience lies predominantly with AQA, I am happy to research other exam boards if necessary. I have significant experience with running small group sessions and one-to-one tutoring.
My approach to tutoring depends very much on the individual, as I believe in the importance of tailoring teaching to a learner's specific needs. Ideally, tutoring should start as a purposeful dialogue with the student about what they wish to get out of the sessions. I make productive use of assessment so I can see what needs to be done in order for the student to progress as quickly as they can.
