Personal Description:

I have recently graduated from the University of Birmingham with a First Class Honours in Sport and Exercise Sciences BSc. I have recently been accepted to undertake this at Masters Level. Before this, I have completed A-levels at Weald of Kent Grammar School for girls, which I thoroughly enjoyed. I am extremely interested in sports, especially Netball which I play at University and also back at home. I have undertaken a coaching level 1 qualification in netball whilst coaching for a local club, and assistant coaching at a school. As well as this, I enjoy spending time with my friends, keeping active (I am running the Birmingham half marathon this year) and seeing my family as much as I can in the holidays! I am working towards completing a PhD in Exercise Physiology following my Masters.

Tutoring Experience:

At school I was both a science ambassador an mentor, which involved me helping students that found science hard and tutoring them for a couple hour each week. I completed this up until their exams and was very involved in their revision outside of the classroom environment. My main area of science tutoring was Biology as this was one of the A-level subjects that I have completed. I was given help from the head of the department as to how I should conduct and plan these hour sessions. Being tutored for my GCSE's myself has really helped me understand that people have different ways of learning, as the lecturing-style based learning was not the best for me.

Tutoring Approach:

I am a friendly and approachable tutor, that is very flexible. I am completely aware that different people have different styles of learning, whether this is kinesthetic, visual or auditory, and this is something that I feel is imperative to tutoring different people. As completing past paper questions and going through answers helps me throughout my exams, this is something I will incorporate into my sessions, as having seen how questions are laid out and written prior to the exam, helps to pick out key parts of what the paper is actually asking. I am more than willing to go through a subject as many times as needed until it is understood as again I am completely aware that some parts of the course just cannot click straight away!
