Personal Description:

I am a qualified veterinary surgeon with a passion for teaching. After obtaining a BSc in Zoology I spent six months working in Botswana before taking a job on a large dairy and beef farm in Somerset. I graduated from Cambridge University In 2013 and have since worked in general small animal practice. I enjoy many aspects of being a vet but inparticular client care and medical problem solving. I have continued to undertake further study throughout my career. I have been fortunate enough to have travelled to some amazing countries for research and hands on experience. In my spare time I love walking my two dogs Purdey and Dixie; and spending time with my family.
I have spent many years in education and can name the teachers in my life that have made a difference. I like to not only teach but inspire young students to reach their potential and fulfil their ambitions. In addition to academic tuition I can offer help with gaining relevant work experience, writing CVs/applications and preparing for interviews.

Tutoring Experience:

Before recently having a break to have my son I was tutoring science as well as working in veterinary practice. I frequently have had students shadow me through my day to day work. We talk through cases; I encourage questions and I try and develop confidence and lateral thinking. I have tutored peers throughout my own education and have found discussion, repetition and teaching has helped develop my own understanding.

Tutoring Approach:

I lead interactive and open sessions. I aim to build a rapport with students in order to build confidence and also have some fun along the way.
We cover topics until the student understands them well enough that they can 'teach' me what they have learnt. Exam success relies on familiarity of the types of questions asked and repetition of the syllabus. I cover other key approaches to undertaking exams. I ask for hard work but in return it will bring reward.
